Our Goals:
- To place images of our historical figures in our homes, offices and schools as a source of inspiration, pride and honor.
- To study our historical hero's and learn their secrets of success.
- To hold our historical figures as the model for achievement.
- To inspire our thinking about what we want to be, what we want to do, and how to contribute back to the community.
- To canonize our own saints, create our own martyrs and elevate to positions of fame and glory Black women and men who have made their distinct contribution to our history.
Role Models pave the way:
One of the most powerful ways that individuals learn is through imitation. Studies have shown that people who report having role models have greater self esteem and achieve more than their peers. Role models are most powerful if they are someone that you have studied or know intimately. AWA with its vast archives provides a virtual treasure chest of role models for historical hero's and learn their secrets of success.
